When I first started reading blogs I didn’t really see the point of RSS feeds, that was of course until I found myself continually returning my favourite blogs only to see there was no new posts. But still I wasn’t going to give into RSS just yet, so I continued returning to the blogs but with greater time spans in between, this worked pretty well.
Then one day I was bored I found myself repeatably visiting the same blogs over and over, I realised it was time for this to stop. I instantly set up iGoogle and added all my favourite blogs to Google reader, and I haven’t looked back since.
Well that’s how I first started using RSS feeds, and I would love to hear your stories too, just post them in the comments section.
I find that it can be very interesting to find out what blogs other people have on the RSS reader, it can offer quite a lot of information such as: the genre’s they prefer, if they read many or hardly any blogs and sometimes its a good way to find good blogs you weren’t aware of. So my plan for today is to list all the blogs on my RSS reader and some explanation of why I added them.
Whether you are blogging about diving equipment or chocolate liquers, you are bound to find hundreds of tips on Problogger that you can use to give your blog a boost. Darren started blogging in 2002 and since then has pretty much perfected the art, his blog is read by tens of thousands of people everyday and has over 50,000 subscribers.
In my mind CopyBlogger is the number one blog focusing on copy writing, I learn something new with every post Brian publishes, and I think this blog is one of the main reasons I have become confident enough in my writing to create my own blog.
This is the first blog on my list that has slowed down tremendously, Blogtreprenuers posts are of high quality but are they worth waiting upto 20 days for? I’m still undecided so its staying on my reader for now.
This blog does exactly what it says on the tin, offers Daily Blog Tips. Daniel Socco is a great example to all bloggers, he has built a fantastic blog, some of the key features being free wordpress themes, Q & A sessions and blogger face-offs.
Why Do Work is dissimalar to most blogs, as it not only offers a blog, but also forums, jobs and more. This blog is probably the most like a community than any others I read.
Judging from Gyutae’s blog he seems to be pretty good friends with Tyler Cruz, I always find it fun to to see their little competitions, although during the last one Tyler didn’t seem to be very motivated..
Similar reasoning to the above, plus Tyler has been holding some pretty generous giveaways in conjunction with market leverage, unfortunately I’m not an affiliate marketer otherwise I would enter.
As well as both being bloggers, me and Jason have another thing in common, we both run other projects, its always good to see how someones blog is going, but learning about their other projects can be a lot more interesting.
Seth Godin’s blog is like a drug, I seem to keep going back, his unique perspective on marketing amazes me and I’m always interested to here what he says next. Seth is also a best selling author, probably most well known for ‘Purple Cow‘ Which focuses on creating remarkable products or services.
In my mind SEOmoz is the #1 source of SEO news, my favourite posts are Rand’s Whiteboard fridays which I thoroughly enjoy every week.
Pretty acurate domain for a blog about blogging eh? Blog about your blog is another site I have on my feed because simply put, you can never have too many blog tips! One way BAYB is unique is with ludovico’s contest round up’s which highlight contests he has found that week.
This is my second favorite blog focusing on copywriting, James and Harry are both great writers and I enjoy each and every one of their posts, they are even doing a kinda of site review on LinkersBlog in December which I’m exstatic about and can not wait for. I’ll be taking into account every point they make and hopefully using there critism to improve the blog.
John Cow started off as a parody of John Chow, it quickly shot to fame and secured the number one rank on google for ‘John Chow’ after John Chow himself got a penalty. Since then both the websites have had new themes. John Cow has since then became a good resource for blogging tips, so good that I’ve added it to my RSS reader instead of Chow.
As with a lot of blogs on my RSS reader, J David Macor has ceased to post on a regular basis, this is quite upsetting as I did quite enjoy reading his posts. I guess its just another case of a blogger losing focus on there blog until they stop posting completely
In terms of education I don’t really gain much from Shoemoney, Jeremy’s blog in my mind is one where he has made it in the affiliate world, and now he is blogging to tell us all what its like being at the top, and I suppose he has every right to.
Surely You Read More Blogs Than That?
If you have been following me round the blogosphere in the last month or so you will see I comment on alot more blogs that those listed above, and you’re probably wondering why they’re not on the list.
The thing is I do read and comment on a hell of a lot more blogs, but I visit those blogs for more than just the articles, I visit those blogs for the community. So instead of adding them to my RSS reader, I feel I am a more valuable visitor if I simply visit the blog instead of just reading the article from my RSS feed. I won’t list all those blogs/bloggers, because you know who you are! Especially when you see me wreaking havoc in the comment section.
Over To You
So there ya go, a quick free review of the blogs on my RSS reader, I guess us readers are worth more than just a number on your ticker! I’d be very interested to hear what’s on your RSS, so either leave a comment or do a post like this on your blog!

Blog for Beginnerss last blog post..Google Debunk Webmasters’ Myths
I plan to write a post similar to this as i’ve seen a few and it is a great way to let readers and visitors know what you read and are into.
What will probably SHOCK the living day lights out of some is that i use (and prefer) Yahoo Reader. As i use Yahoo as my main email account. It is my home on the web.
I have many feeds on my reader and they are categorized as i subscribe to blogs from various niche subjects, not just blogging stuff.
When i write my “What’s On My RSS Feed” post, i will send a link your way. Cool?

I too wrote a “Blogs that I read” post on my blog recently. Don’t take me wrong, but I prefer subscribing via email instead of RSS.
I agree with what you said about ProBlogger. Darren has been perfecting his blogging art since years. Its common sense to read his blog.
Ganeshs last blog post..Blogs that I Read and Enjoy – Part 2
I really loved reading Blogtrepreneur. Thanks for mentioning it.

Anyone experienced having to unsubscribe from a blog you thought was great and followed for a good 6 months only to find that the reason you’re not so interested anymore is because the blog was purchased from a different owner?
That sucks. I did this with 2 sites in particular
There are around 200-300 blogs which I’m read from time to time. That mostly depends on the niche I’m currently working with.
