Link Building Q & A Answers

by donny on December 6, 2008

Thanks for all the questions guys, I’m going to enjoy answering these!

charles asks:

What’s your biggest source of income and traffic?

Answer: My biggest source of income is the Blog Comment Blueprint, although I don’t actively promote it sales do keep coming in so it’s a nice little earner. The largest source of traffic is referals from other blogs, or to be more specific, blog comments I’ve made and links from other bloggers.

Spanish Classes asks:

What is the most effective link sources for local or small business seo?

Answer: I think the most powerful links for local businesses are the ones from local authorities such as the towns website or authorities. The links can be hard to attain but if you come up with some creative you should be okay. Local papers are good too.

Tushar Dhoot asks:

Many small blogs vs Couple Big Blogs?

Link Building through Comment-Wise

Answer: I think if you have the time and effort it’s best to have one main blog and some more specific targetted blogs. If you are short on time I’d recommend just one big blog any day.

Swastikasks:

1) What would you consider a good link building rate for a new website? I’ve seen this question asked on many forums, yet not answered properly.

2) What are your comments on Social media traffic? Useless or not? Why?

Answer: I’d like to give you a definitive answer, but to me the amount of links means nothing. I could go get 100’s of links right now no problem. But quality is much more important than quantity.

As the internet expands their seems to be more and more niche specific social media websites popping up, if you can capitalize on this you will be able to reap very targetting traffic.

Jason asks:

Is Blog Commenting an affective way to build backlinks and create traffic ?

Done correctly blog commenting is effective, but if you are not careful you can waste a lot of time.

Sean asks:

do you have any other sites that you are working on is it best to focus all your energy on one?

i mean, controlling more sites gives you more links to play with. ie linking between your own sites.

Answer: I do have other sites I work on, and I will be the first to admit I don’t have enough time to work on them. It’s much better to great one amazing website than ten mediocre ones.

SEO specialist asks:

What is the best and effective way to gain more inbound links?.
Thanks!

Answer: Create remarkable content (that’s what they all say). And then promote it as if your life depends on it!

Luca asks:

I’ve heard a lot about 3 way links – do they work or is that a problem with Google

Answer: If you are attempting to manipulate the rankings then yes, Google will pick up on it and maybe punish you.

Jonathon asks:

I realize your main strategy when you started this blog, was to comment on other blogs, so I am curious, how many comments did you have to do a day, to get to this point? The growth of this blog is phenomenal, and obviously a lot of it has to do with the content, but no matter how good content you have, you need to get your site out there to begin with. You were able to do that with commenting (or that’s what I hear anyway) how much time did you have to spend commenting?

Answer: The great thing about commenting is that you can do it as little or as much as you like and you will see some results. Admittadly I spent a lot of time at the beginnning, but it helped tremendously. I also enjoy commenting so it didn’t seem like work at all.

web marketing man asks:

How do you build many links but not risking being banned by search engines? Usually when you have many links pointing to your domain, you run a risk of being banned by Google and other search engines.

Answer: This is a simple one, build links from credible websites and don’t buy them unless you know it’s undectable.

Franklin asks:

Has links to your blog paid off?

Answer: Most of my traffic comes from the links, so I’d say yes :P

Tom asks:

Do you focus on ‘Do-Follow’ Blogs when you comment? Or do you just comment anywhere? :D

Answer: I don’t comment anywhere, but nofollow doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

Home Security Tips asks:

I have created a new site based on debt advice (Me Debt Free:-) I am getting zero traffic from Google and have built quite a few backlinks now. How many, or what type of links do I need, to start getting some Google traffic to a competitive niche such as this?

Answer: The dept niche is nearly impossible get into, their are so many established sites in their already you will have a really hard time.

Just wanted to ask if you could expand on your answer above:

I’d like to give you a definitive answer, but to me the amount of links means nothing. I could go get 100’s of links right now no problem. But quality is much more important than quantity.

What do you consider a quality blog to comment on? What specific criteria do you have?

I was looking at your Blog Commenting Blueprint, but the link seems to be broken? Or maybe it’s paydotcom that’s down?

I really like a copy, will wait until it’s up and running…

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply to my question about getting into the Debt niche. Didnt realise it would be so hard, compared with other sites I have done.
I checked out one competitor site and it had 300,000+ backlinks!!!
I get a bit of traffic from other sources, but it doesnt really convert like search engine traffic. People come from e.g. social bookmarking sites and I’m sure they just click on a link to my site for the hell of it. They dont go to any other pages bar the home page.

Great one, lot of interesting information lies in these Q and A Answers. It would be great if you could add straight credit card payment for Comment Blueprint, as some members are International and don’t have PayPal as payment option.

“Many small blogs vs Couple Big Blogs?”
Obviously couple big ones. Everyone can have numerous small blogs. Nearly noone is able to own a successful big blog. Plus it’s easier to manage say 3 projects at the time than 30.
