Link Building: Adding Value Through Sharing

by donny on October 4, 2009

When it comes to blogging, most bloggers like to point back to their own links on their blog instead of referencing someone else’s link. They like to maintain the most amount of link juice as possible on their website. Even though it adds tremendous value in regards to their onsite optimization, they are missing out on all of the quality backlinks that they could be gaining from those other sites. 9 times out of 10 if you include a link from another post from a different blog, they will accept that trackback or ping and once they do, you will automatically receive a free backlink to your website. Imagine how many backlinks that you will have pointing back to your site if you did this at least once a week. A lot! Here is a couple of post around the blogosphere that I liked.

Jonathan from Masters of SEO wrote what Obama can teach us about blogging.  His presidential campaign will go down in history as being one of the most creative campaigns ever seen.  Obama used the blogging and online world to promote his candidacy.

Gyutae of Winning the Web post about how link building relates to how the rich stay rich, and the poor get poorer.  It seems to be true because all of the top blogs continually get massive back links on a daily basis because every small blog wants to link to them.  Once one person sees the same blog over and over on other sites, it becomes a viral linking effect.

Ty from Red Vw Bus blogged about whether social media helped Obama get elected.  He used great examples in this post to support his evidence of all the tools and tactics that Obama’s campaign used to create a buzz all around the blogosphere.

Ari from ariwriter wrote a feature post on Mashable on how Obama should use twitter.  It recently was stated that the new President would get the presidential Twitter account transferred over to him.  Most people think that Obam will take full advantage of his twitter account unlike the last president.

Ben Pei of Pei Profit post about what we can learn from President Obama.  Ben provides three strategies for you to apply to both your life and business in order to gain a competitive advantage.

Pingbacks and trackbacks can be really useful in the process of gaining backlinks, as well as in improving one’s search engine status, though it depends on the settings at the other website or log, if it is set to accept any ping, then it will automatically provide a backlink to my website.
Then linking out to useful sites provide your visitors some more useful information on the topic they are viewing on your site.
