Before you even consider writing a comment what are the 4 things you should look out for?
Garry Conn often leaves comments of upwards of 500 words – Sometimes they surpass the length of the actual post!
Imagine your disappointment after spending ages creating a killer comment only to find that only one person has bothered to click through to your blog, and that was the blogger! An amazing comment on a dead blog is like building a mansion in the middle of the desert.
So, over the next 4 posts in a lead up to the blog comment blueprint I am going to look at ways to maximise the effectiveness of your blog comments and yield the results your comments deserve.
My hope is that those of you that have previously given up blog commentating will give it another chance with your new found knowledge, and the avid blog commentators will use this knowledge to further their efforts.
Here are the 4 points I am going to look at -
Although the above points are important, nothing is more important than Comment Etiquette, so make sure you read that post before you do anything.
Obviously this is a series of posts your not going to want to miss, to have each post delivered to your inbox as soon as it is published enter your email address below.
Alternatively you can bookmark this page as I will be updating the above points with hyperlinks once the posts are published.

Comments upto 500 words?! Maybe one day…but I can’t see myself doing that too often, lol! (The G’s on his site give me a headache
)
Looking forward to the four posts, nice to have almost a ‘taster’ of whats to come in the eBook!

At this point, if there is no top commentator plugin, I am really disappointed. You are the one that put me up on the plugin a few weeks ago and now I am addicted to it.
Thanks, Danny, can’t wait for the book!
I’m looking forwaard to you next post. I’ve always wanted to know a more effective ways of commenting and such stuff. I’m sure you’l provide some good stuff

Young blogs tend to be about that stuff but it makes the comment section looked cluttered. Once blogs get a lot of subscribers they take it off.

I know people that get mad over long comments. I would say just make a point.

You’re spot on when you classify it as a taster, because that is exactly what it is, the real secrets are in the book.
I know you will be back, that’s the point of teasing you
In my mind keywordluv is definitely a plug-in that doesn’t get too much attention, hopefully I can change that.
Yeah Franklin. The commentluv plugin does make the comments section look a bit untidy at times.

I agree completely, I still haven’t perfected it on here.
I know some that will actually delete them – they say why not make a post of your own and link-back?
I personally don’t care – long or short it’s all food for the SE’s
Not to mention they usually give me more ideas

Just a heads up…maybe its just me, but when I look at this comments page in IE I only see half the comments…in firefox its fine! Thought my comment had been deleted for some reason as there was a big blank white space and then adams comment :\

Thanks for pointing this out, I shall investigate.
I found your blog – through a comment you made at another blog. That blog had the Comment Luv plug in and the title of this post is DEFINITELY what brought me here!
BTW – I can’t imagine leaving or approving a 500 word comment!

People that write 500 word comments need to start their own blogs! I once started a blog that was nothing but posting comments from one individual who was just running around slamming every one in a particular subject matter. When someone pointed it out to him he change his ways and I closed the blog. But it was funny while it lasted.
Great post!
I once read a comment that I assume longer than 500 words. The comment was so inspiring since it was to calm the blogger who was so down at that time. The blogger decided it to post it as guest post on his blog.
Anyway, I think the four points you will tackle are only bonus for the commentator. After all, commenting should be sharing your ideas and not promotional purposes.
Signs of the times, but I hope we must go back to the basics.
I will be looking forward for your next post.

Even writing a blog post with 500 words is a very difficult task..hmm thinking to write a 500 word comment is really impossible for me.. But what I feel is that.. Is the comment useful to others? Is it encouraging the Author? Thats my point..

I think 500 word comments are too much. I’m a believer in short and sweet comments that provide valuable information. I think there’s too much fluff on the web, and the more succinct we make it, the better off we’ll all be.

You’re adding all the great plugins; good for you!
I had one guy leave a comment on my blog that was close to 1,800 words. Turns out it was an article that he’d posted in a few other places online, so I edited his comment, leaving a couple of paragraphs, then linked to one of the other article pages. It was going to go way off topic, and was going to keep anyone else from wanting to comment, thinking their comment would never be seen.
I hope this generates as many comments for you as it has for me.
