Blog Commenting Interview With Ben Pei

by donny on November 23, 2009

How many different blogs do you comment on per day?

I have lost count of this dude!  Well I have about 50 blogs on my list that I strive to comment on daily and from there I just hop to and fro to other blogs on their blogrolls.

How many different blogs do you comment on total?

The answer to this question will resemble the one in your first question. Since I believe the importance and benefit of commenting on blogs, I make it the top priority in my blog marketing schedule. So I would be able to comment on almost all of them on my list, EVERYDAY!

Why do you comment on blogs?

I started commenting on one of my friend’s blog when Pei Profit Dot Com was still unheard of. Then I started receiving some referred traffic from his blog and the more often I commented, the more popular I got! Frankly speaking, blog commenting was one of my earliest marketing strategy that I happened to chance upon myself and even up till today, it stays as the best traffic driving strategy.

What are the benefits that you get from commenting?

Traffic and Back Links! Does this sound yummy to you?

What are your opinions about the blog commentating plugin?

I love this personally. This is a win-win plugin for both bloggers and blog commentators. Blog readers are more enticed to comment on blogs with this plugin because it gives them back links when they make it to the top commentator list.  Most people would comment just for gaining back links, which I think has nothing wrong, but there will still be a handful of readers who can give some constructive advice. If you’re a blogger, make sure you do not miss this plugin out!

Do you prefer to comment on blogs with this plugin?

Well, I have to admit this. Yes I do!  Don’t you want to get your name on top of the list?

What are the top five blogs that you like to comment on?

John Chow

Shoemoney

Winning The Web

Linkers Blog

And Of Course, My Own PeiProfit.com!

Is blog commenting a waste of time?

Whoever said it is a waste of time should be exiled. My reply to this was a no, still is a no and will remain as a no!

How many comments does your blog average per posts?

My average numbers of comments per post is about 20-30. Highest being 207 at the moment.

What types of post do you create to get readers to comment on your blogs?

The kind of posts that give you the most comments are ‘How-To’ and free giveaways. You can witness this trend from many other blogs as well. Including mine!

Do you remove any negative comments on your blog?

Nope I don’t! I have only gotten one real negative comment so far and I am glad my readers stood by me at that point of time. I would probably only edit if the commentator added a url in the comment box.

Why should people read your blog and post comments to it?

First of all, I have two on-going prizes for my commentators. One of which being the best comment of the week and other being Pei Profit True Blue Fan. The best comment every week will get a link back and mention on my blog while the true blue fan award can range from free advertisement to free gifts.

Secondly, my blog is made dofollow so you get a backlink if you leave a constructive comment. Lastly, I aim to post resourceful content on my blog daily and this should be able to spark off your comment craze!

Commenting on blogs is an important aspect of the link-building process, I agree that “How to” related posts garner opinions and comments as do lists such as “the Top 10…”

Have you ever tracked what percentage visitors comment? I wonder if the ratio has gone up since you started catering to bloggers with dofollow links.

My biggest challenge at this time is figuring out how to get my blog known as a Top Commentator blog. Any suggestions?

Great interview. Think this is the first interview I’ve seen of a “blog commentator”. I’ve been doing a little commenting lately myself and am discovering a rather vibrant community of dofollow blogs.
