2 Clickbank Article Marketing Tips

by donny on December 9, 2009

The #1 free method of earning money online has got to be through article marketing + affiliate marketing. I have only had experience with Clickbank when it comes to article marketing so that is the example that I will use. You can sign up to be an affiliate for free at Clickbank’s website and start pitching products. Writing articles takes a lot of time and effort if done well, but if you do it well, then it will pay off in the end. These are 2 tips that have worked for me as simple ways of increasing the number of sales that I make.

Tip 1: Write as the authority on the issue. If you don’t come across as someone who knows what they’re talking about, why would anyone listen to you when it comes to your review of a product to buy? You must sound knowledgeable about the issue if you want to end up with any sales. This is easy for those of you who have blogs that have a following, since readers already know who you are and that you can be trusted. If you are someone that has a younger blog that has not developed a readership yet, or you are submitting an article to an article directory, then you must write the review with particular key words.

For example, if you’re writing a review for an affiliate marketing product, then mention in the post that you are an Internet marketer. Your sentence can be something like “In my 3 years spent as an affiliate marketer, I have come to this conclusion regarding certain techniques.” This way, even if readers have no idea who you are, they feel comfortable listening to your opinion and add value to what you have to say. Make sure to come across as someone giving away valuable information and not as someone trying to push a product.

Another way of sounding authoritative is by utilizing your signature when submitting to article directories. Depending on the article directory, you will have the option of writing a signature about yourself that will appear either at the top, bottom, or side of your article. Use your signature to build up authority points! Depending on the niche, I will write in my signature facts about myself that will gain me “authority points” in the reader’s eyes. Just recently I was writing an article in the gambling niche so I mention on the side that I have been playing poker on such and such site for X amount of years and have earned Y amount of money.

It is a simple tool that will give you a much better ratio of clicks and sales. If somebody is not sure whether to buy a product or not, then they will type into Google something along the lines of “review of X.” If you act as if you have the power of knowledge over them, then you will be able to tip the scale in your favor and successfully convince them to buy the product.

Tip 2: Your job when you’re writing articles as reviews is to “review” not to promote. Don’t write articles about how great such a product is and that everyone else must try such and such product, because nobody likes being told what to do. A much better option is to review by going over the information and the facts. Go to the sales page of whatever product you’re promoting and go over their key points. Afterwards, go back to your review and expound on those “key facts.” Write a complete sentence about each key point that the product addresses or the problems that the product solves.

But it is important to note that your job as an Internet marketer is not to sell the product – that is what the sales page of the clickbank publisher/vendor is for. The reason why I spent weeks putting my sales page together was so that affiliates can just send me targeted traffic and make sales without doing any real “selling.” If you write in this manner, then the reader will come to his own conclusion after reading your review to buy the product without ever being told to buy the product. This will thoroughly increase the chances of the prospective customer buying such a product since it is coming from his decision and not from yours.

Marketers, feel free to write any other tips that have worked for you.

One thing I find works for me is to include something negative about the product you’re reviewing. Nothing big…you don’t want to scare away buyers. Just find something small to nitpick about, something that wouldn’t really keep someone from buying anyway. That cements you as a real review and not a phony whose just out to make a buck.

The best policy is to review things you only have experience about. That way, you don’t come across as fake, if a real user happens to pass by. Too many people these days put up sites on things they don’t have any experience with!

I like your idea an pre-selling not selling or as you said it review not promote. If I am writing an ezine article I always try to keep by article between 250-350 words. People like tight article right to the point. No one seems to have a long attention span these days. Thanks for the 2 great tips I am going to print them off and refer to them when I write my next article.

Comparing one product to a similar one can really help the reader pin down their feelings about purchasing the product especially if items which are compared are fairly equivalent to each other, and should be used under the same conditions.

Donny, this is a very good article and you have made some very insightful points.

One point I definitely agree with, is that you should make sure not to come across as a salesman in your articles. Instead provide VALUE for the person reading the article and they will be more likely to take action and click and visit your website. Article marketing can be powerful if done the right way.
